Sold out is not the end
Where a piece goes after it leaves the shop, week by week, and how to find it.
It doesn’t end with sold out.
Where a piece goes after it leaves the shop, and how to find it.
Week one: the brand itself.
Returns come back. Most brands restock returned pieces without announcing it, sometimes within days. This is the window most people miss, and the reason SUWI checks the brand first and keeps checking.
Month one: the other stockists.
The same piece is usually sold by four or five retailers, in different sizes, at different times. The department store may have your size long after the brand has sold out.
Month three: the outlets and the sales.
End-of-season stock moves to outlet sites and to the sale pages of the smaller stockists. Prices drop; the piece is the same.
Month six onwards: pre-owned.
Pieces bought and never worn, or worn twice, arrive on the resale platforms in a steady stream. This is where last season lives, often at half price.
What SUWI does with this.
It searches all four places at once, and keeps searching until you say stop. As soon as the piece appears anywhere, you get the email.
